Mista Savona's “Melbourne meets Kingston”

Mista Savona Presents: Melbourne Meets Kingston

Dancehall, Hip-Hop & Roots from Jamaica to Australia and beyond

When it comes to reggae music in the south pacific, New Zealand may have successfully taken the crown in regards to live bands and the classic late sixties/early seventies sound. However if you are talking about the modern dancehall sound and soundsystem culture in general I feel we have to hand that victory to Australia at this point in time.

Mista Savona's “Melbourne meets Kingston” only serves to cement this viewpoint for me as I was shocked and awed by 21 tracks of beautiful dancehall hip-hop and roots created by an Australian producer in conjunction with Australian and Jamaican musicians and singers such as Anthony B, Big Youth, Determine and more.

“Melbourne meets Kingston” has successfully captured the essence of classic Jamaican music while expanding upon it will a new and fresh Australian edge.

New Zealand dancehall producers take note, this is how it should be done.
